TRY A NEW BUMPER CROP FOR NURSERIES

January, 2010

Pop up greenhouse

Encouraging young children to take an interest in healthy eating, from plant to plate, and the effect of nutrition and exercise on their bodies can seed good habits for life. Now lessons can be made fun and memorable with a new Healthy Living range from nursery and pre-school specialist early years from The Consortium. All the new materials, tools and resources are aimed at getting under fives interested in growing fruit and vegetables, as well as understanding how gardens can contribute to their local environment.

The new aids include Yeominis Children's Gardening Tools and Accessories; 5-A-Day Fruit & Vegetable Kit; Keep Fit in the Classroom Friezes and Activities; Healthy Food Sets, the Pop-up Greenhouse; and for older pre-school children there is the Eatwell Plate Poster.

Melanie Teal, Chief Executive of early years from The Consortium said: "More and more nurseries and pre-schools are teaching children how to garden at a young age which helps settings encourage healthy eating as well as show children how they can respect and value their environment. In response to demand from settings, we wanted to make sure we could offer high quality, well priced and long lasting tools and resources that would help young children be involved in all aspects of cultivating and growing healthy food – and of course allow them the satisfaction of tasting their own!"
