The Consortium acquires West Mercia Supplies

The Consortium for Purchasing & Distribution Limited, has announced the acquisition of West Mercia Supplies (WMS) from its 4 Local Authority owners (Shropshire, Hereford, Worcestershire, Telford & Wrekin).
The Consortium will operate WMS as an independent business under the leadership of Elaine Keogh (formerly Deputy MD at WMS). The combined group expects to secure a number of benefits from joint working between two very similar businesses operating in adjacent geographical areas.
Opportunities to improve value for money, range and service to customers have already been identified and more will follow as the two organisations start to better understand each other’s strengths.
Melanie Teal, Chief Executive at The Consortium, commented "This is the first public to private transaction in the educational supplies sector for some considerable time and, thanks to the support of WMS staff and unions, it has been handled extremely professionally.
