Students at The Commonweal School experience life in the Gambia

We were delighted to hear from one of our customers, The Commonweal School in Swindon about their student's incredible trip to the Gambia. They sent us this photo as they took one of our promotional bags with them on their travels!
Every two years, the school takes a party of about 20 students aged between 14 and 16 to the Gambia. These students apply for a place on the trip over a year before they go and have to be interviewed as part of the selection process. The chosen students then have to raise funds before the trip so that they can make donations to a primary school, a secondary school and a health centre in the village of Gunjar.
During the week the students visit the village’s schools and health centre, spend a day with a host family, pay their respects to the village elders and barter for gifts at a local market. A fantastic experience – we hope they had a great time!
