The Consortium Donates School Equipment for the 'Operation Christmas Child' Project
The Consortium Donates School Equipment for the ‘Operation Christmas Child’ Project
December, 2008
(l-r) The Consortium’s Chris Hubbard, Judith Whalley and Graham Pattison from Operation Christmas Child
The UK’s largest independent Education supplier The Consortium has donated in excess of 3,000 exercise books to support 'Operation Christmas Child' by Samaritan’s Purse.
The world’s largest children’s Christmas project enables families, schools, churches and organisations to
fill shoe boxes with small toys, school supplies, sweets, and other gifts for needy children around the world.
Last year, 1.3 million children received a gift shoe box, with 40,000 contributed alone from Melksham, Wiltshire
and the surrounding area.
Opportunities for children to receive a good education in some countries continue to fade away, especially
with the devastating aftermath of war remaining in regions. The Consortium’s generous school supply donation
is an enabler for those children to learn and can provide the chance to escape from the poverty trap. This year,
children in Liberia, Bosnia, Serbia and the Ukraine will all benefit from the exercise books from The Consortium.
Judith Whalley, 'Operation Christmas Child' District Representative for Trowbridge says "We cannot thank The
Consortium enough for this huge donation, it will make such a difference to so many children and their teachers".
If you're interested in donating a shoe box to underprivileged children this year, please visit Operation
Christmas Child at www.samaritanspurse.uk.com/occ.
Many thanks to Judith Whalley and Graham Pattison (Transport Co-ordinator) for arranging The
Consortium’s delivery to the children this year.
