The Consortium raises £3,700 for Cancer Research UK
The Consortium raises £3,700 for Cancer Research UK in 3 hours!
18th August 2006
£3,700 raised in only 3 hours!
The Consortium raised a staggering £3,700 in only 3 hours on Saturday 18th August when they opened their doors to the public at their annual warehouse clearance sale. Items ranging from exercise books and stationery goods to office furniture and art and craft products were up for grabs at bargain prices, with all proceeds going to Cancer Research UK.
Bargain hunters queued around the block for up to 2 hours in advance to lay their hands on the best deals, and within 3 hours of opening The Consortium's charity team had smashed their target of £3,000.
Organiser Chris Hubbard was delighted at the total amount raised and commented that the day's success was due to his team of enthusiastic helpers: "We would not have achieved such a great result without the help from so many volunteers from The Consortium staff. My thanks go out to them. Our only worry was the weather. If it had rained then things could have been disastrous. As it turned out, the heavens smiled on us on Saturday and everything went very well".
The Consortium have been collecting returned and damaged products throughout the year and had over 30 pallet loads prepared for Saturday's sale. On the day, these products proved to be a hit and very little was left over at the end.
The Consortium has an ambitious target to raise £25,000 for Cancer Research this year. A fantastic start was made by entering a team in Bath's Race For Life and hosting various fancy dress fundraisers all helping them on their way to the target. In addition, every time the company sell a pack of their own branded copier paper, they donate 20p to the charity, an activity that is likely to raise £10,000 alone.
