The chosen one...
28th May 2004
The Consortium announced today its nominated company charity, Cancer Research UK. Its 200 staff team members chose the charity, after the management team undertook research amongst its workers into the cause that touched most people's heart.
Chief Executive, Jeff Gould comments: "We are pleased to announce our nominated charity today. Our staff team was given a choice of three charities and 80% of them chose Cancer Research UK. The company pledges to donate £5,000, with a further £5,000 raised through charity events each year."
Cancer Research UK is delighted with the news of its newest corporate partner. Tim Rowland, Corporate Fundraising Manager, comments: "We are delighted to have been selected by the Consortium. It's great to be working with them and this initiative will make a great contribution to our work, helping to cure cancer faster."
The Consortium commit to supporting Cancer Research UK on an on-going basis and have formed a internal charity team to initiate and organize a range of events to raise as much as possible for this important charity. Cancer Research UK's vision is to conquer cancer through world-class research. It is the largest volunteer-sponsored cancer research organisation in the world and the charity supports the work of 3,000 scientists working across the UK. Its annual scientific spend is more than £191 million, which is raised almost entirely through public donations.
Jeff Gould concludes: "We hope that the commitment and contribution of our staff team and the events we have planned will assist Cancer Research UK in its vital fundraising efforts.
